Weekly Meal Plan & Weigh In: Perspective Time

So this week was the weigh in after the wedding weekend. I went completely off track the day of and the day after the wedding. I don't even want to think about how many smartpoints passed my lips. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Do I regret it? Not at all. We need to be able to have weekends like this in our life and not let the guilt consume us. For me, managing my weight is part of my life forever, and you can't always be guilty about going a little bit off plan. If you let the guilt creep in, its much more difficult to get yourself back onto your day to day healthy eating.

What you have to really think about is if the event is worth going off plan for. When you step on the scales and see a gain will you be able to handle that or will it demotivate you so much you end up back where you started. I see a lot of people on social media who are disappointed with the results on the scales - you hear 'only lost 1lb and I was so good' or 'I stuck to the plan 100% and I thought I should have lost more'. This is a long term thing, if the weight falls off quickly week after week then that is fantastic, but for the majority of us it isn't that easy. Slow and steady wins the race as they say. I am the type of person who has 2 good weigh ins per month and 2 not so good weigh ins. The 2 weeks around my TOTM I will usually see a small gain or a STS, if I am really luck I may lost 1/2 a pound. So I prefer to look at my weight loss over a month or two, rather than focusing on what the scales says that particular week. You need to find what works for you, and ignore what happens to everyone else.

So this week I gained a little, well not a little; 3.5lbs. I do think it was a little more than I deserved but it is one of my 'bad' weigh in weeks so water retention and other things may be playing a part in that. I'm not going to lie and say it was nice to see that result on the scales, but it's there and there is nothing I can do about it now. Considering the week that is in it with all the easter eating, I'm not hopeful for a loss this week. I used up a fair few weekly's yesterday and might be dipping into the rest today. If I can get away with a STS when Saturday comes around I will be pretty happy with that. Either way, I'm not only doing this for the number on the scales. This lifestyle suits me better. I feel healthier, have more energy for my running, my skin is better, I am really enjoying my food - why would I give all that up just because the scales is not being nice to me. Always look at the bigger picture.

So I'm organised for the week, meal plan and shopping done. I'm trying something different for lunches this week and going with sandwiches. Trying out a few new recipes this week which I am excited for and I have a couple of the recipes I have been promising from the past few weeks ready to be posted this week, so watch this space!
