Simple Start Food Diary!!

I've been having such a great time on Simple Start and judging by my clothes I think I'm on track for another loss this week which is good. You never know until you get on the scales, but even if I don't see it there I'm still feeling good.

So I've decided to share a typical days worth of food while I've been following the plan! This is what I have eaten today - and you can see how much food I've been having!

I had been getting a bit bored with porridge so I decided to mix it up and bit and bought some shredded wheat. I forgot how much I love the stuff. I know a lot of people think it tastes like cardboard, but I genuinely love it. When I'm pointing I am always conscious of how much milk I use and it's nice on SS not to have to worry about. I have my shredded wheat with a banana, its really the only fruit I can stomach in cereal!

Change is for the Best!

So week one of Simple Start is done and I am happy to report I have lost 2.5lbs! I had felt like I may have lost more but I am still delighted with this. It brings me back to just 1lb above goal and to be honest how can I expect huge losses when I am pretty much at my goal weight. People have noticed the weight loss this week again, and I can feel it in my clothes again.

A Couple Of Simple Start Recipes

I am on day 5 of the new Simple Start plan and I am surprised to say that I am absolutely loving it and wondering why I have been so anti Filling & Healthy all these years. I feel great, am full all the time and I am not being tempted by junk food. It takes a little more prep time and you do need to think about things a little bit more but it is definitely worth it. I think going forward I am going to do filling and healthy Monday to Friday and then switch to Propoints at the weekends for a little bit more flexibility.

I've a few recipes that I have tried this week that fit on Simple Start/Filling & Healthy and are delicious.

Embracing Change!

I'm just going to say it, I am afraid of change. We learn what works for us and then don't want to let anything else in. When Weight Watchers first introduced propoints I was ready for a change. I'd had success in the past with points but when I came back from travelling it just wasn't working for me. I found in my early 20's I was pretty much able to take the weekend off pointing and if I was 100% on track the rest of the week I would still lose weight. As I got older this didn't work for me and I was finding the points system didn't allow me to enjoy a social life. Propoints is perfect for this - 49 weekly propoints to use how you please gives flexibility for a social life. Since this was working so well for me I never gave Filling & Healthy a try, I was afraid of the freedom of not measuring and weighing. I felt I had put on weight because I couldn't judge portion size and didn't want to risk that again. Of course when I think about it I gained wait because I was eating all the wrong types of food as well as the wrong portion sizes.

Everything's Just Glorious!

I have been a bit lazy about my lunches the past few weeks, lets call it a Christmas hangover and so I have been buying soups to take to work with me. I also haven't made it to a meeting yet so I don't feel I have enough information to give Simple Start a go so I am still counting propoints. I usually feel a bit bad about not making my own as they are not as tasty or as kind to the pocket. I think the reason I have kept this going so long is I have discovered the tastiest low propoint convenience soups out there! I would def recommend making your own in general, but if you find yourself in the mood for something easy - or stuck for lunch one day, then grab one of these.

Gin & Beetroot Cured Salmon

I mentioned this on Christmas day over on my facebook page and I have to say it was so delicious. I got the recipe from the Christmas weight watchers magazine and I knew as soon as I saw it that it was going to be our starter on Christmas day. It was a winner with the whole family, in fact even on hearing the name of it my parents asked me to cure a whole side of salmon so there was enough to do the whole Christmas season.

Chicken & Lemon Risotto

I've posted a few risotto recipes here before as it is really one of my favourite foods. Creamy rich and delicious its one of those meals that really feels like a treat. The experts will tell you for a really good risotto you need lashings of butter and cheese to make it really good but to be honest the key is patience and lots of stirring. This recipe does have some real butter in it which you can substitute for any other oil type if you don't keep real butter in the house. If you want to use spray oil you will save 1pp per portion.
