I feel like the "diet switch" has been constantly changing over the past few months. We all know the feeling, wake up in the morning and the switch is firmly turned on - by the weekend it is firmly turned off, and in the few days in between has going a little bit crazy. I have been managing to maintain within my 5lbs, but I am yet to go even half a pound under my goal. This is and always has been to me a life change rather than a diet, but I have found myself over the past few months over indulging and spending the rest of the time trying to make up for it. I need to remind myself of where I am and how I got here. Only then will I really figure out how to stay here!
I am going on holiday in 6 weeks, and not only is it a sun holiday but my good friend is also getting married. I am currently sitting 4.5lbs above my goal and I just got myself a new gorgeous bikini that I want to look my best in. I want to use this 6 weeks to lose at least 6lbs to get myself under goal for the first time since I hit it. The summer has been difficult due to all the social events and so I am planning on cutting one big hurdle out of the equation - ALCOHOL! This Saturday will be the last time I drink before my holiday, I will be having a very dry September.
I am also going to really try to cut down on my carbs, especially bread and pasta, and increase my protein and healthy fat intakes. This is something I always struggle with. I never think I eat that much bread, but I have been craving it a lot recently, and I have been eating it just to satisfy those. So I am cutting them out. Another thing I am going to cut back on is processed sugar. I like to have a treat in the evening, so I will be buying some dark chocolate and will be limiting myself to 2 squares a day.
Finally, probably the one thing I have changed over the past is that I am drinking WAY more coffee. I am going to make a swap, cappucinos for green tea. Not only will it keep me on track - it'll also save my purse.
I really want to strip back my diet to basics and see how things work for me. I want to try and cut out as much processed foods as I possibly can. I have a rough plan in my mind which I am hoping to elaborate on tomorrow once I actually make it to the supermarket I will be putting my meal plan in place for the week.
Sorry if this post is a little bit rambly - I have been a little unorganised today and I have been toying around with doing something like this for the past few weeks. I am taking the plunge, once I write it down I have to do it, so here it goes. Any words of wisdom to help.
In other exciting news - The Hairy Dieters have a new book out, and I have received a text from Parcel Motel tonight to let me know that it is waiting for me at my collection point. I will pick it up tomorrow and get working on calculating the propoints for it! I am hoping for some new and exciting recipes to keep me going over this 6 weeks So watch this space!
